About Hawaii Horse Massage

Hawaii Horse Massage LLC was founded in 2021, with the mission to make high-quality, professional bodywork easily accessible to horses and their people across Hawaii.

Owner and principal massage therapist Jadelyn Ashley Downer has been a horse lover since childhood, and grew up riding and loving on her best friend’s herd of Arabians. Jadelyn graduated from Hawaii Healing Arts College and became a licensed massage therapist in 2014. Jadelyn specializes in medical massage for injuries, chronic pain, and mental health issues. In 2017, she began volunteering with Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii in Waimanalo. The hardworking therapy horses at THH inspired her to become certified in equine massage therapy and equine fascial integration therapy.

Jadelyn has been a nationally board certified equine massage therapist through NBCAAM (the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage) since 2023, and is one of only two NBCAAM board certified equine massage therapists in the state of Hawaii. Jadelyn graduated from The Equine Institute as a Certified Equine Fascial Integration Therapist in 2022. She has worked on horses of all ages, breeds, and disciplines across Hawaii.

What is Equine Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy for horses is a hands-on therapeutic technique for horses, focusing on muscle tissue with the goal of relieving tension, decreasing muscle spasms, enhancing muscle tone, and increasing range of motion. Massages are customized to fit the horse’s needs. Jadelyn is a nationally board certified equine massage therapist.

What is Equine Fascial Integration Therapy?

Equine Fascial Integration Therapy is a hands-on therapeutic technique for horses that focuses on restoring or enhancing bio-mechanical functions in a horse’s body. EFIT is performed in a series of sessions, and combines movement and range of motion evaluations with hands-on manipulation of connective tissue to uncover patterns of dysfunction and compensation in the body. Jadelyn studied EFIT at The Equine Institute under the guidance of Co-Founder April Johnston.
